Istanbul Brings Together the ICCA Mediterranean Chapter

At a much anticipated get-together, the ICCA Mediterranean Chapter hosted it first Summit in Istanbul between the 27th and 29th of June 2008.

The Summit, hosted by the Istanbul Conventions and Visitors Bureau and coordinated by SCS Ltd was the successful culmination of a year-long preparation to actively involve ICCA regional members in the Mediterranean into mutually beneficial business exchange and brainstorming for developing the region, focusing on the meetings industry.

Realized with 25 participants from Cyprus, Egypt, France, Greece, Italy and Turkey, the Summit also featured honoring the memory of Nino Fiorentino, the father of the ICCA Mediterranean Chapter, who passed away end of 2007.

All participants were very pleased with the Summit which they described as productive and successful and expressed their enthusiasm to collaborate more closely.

Issues discussed include permanent-active business lead exchange, cross-chapter cooperation and initiatives, regional promotion, activities for upcoming industry events, chapter strategy & marketing and future Summits.

It was announced that the 2009 Summit will be hosted in Nice, France and the 2010 Summit in Cairo, Egypt.

The IMC Summit 2008 was supported and sponsored by the Istanbul Convention & Visitors Bureau, the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Dedeman Istanbul Hotel, Kongresist Inc., Serenas Group and SCS Ltd.
